How to Auto-Sync the NBC Exchange Rate into QuickBooks Online

RielSync Team · 6 min read · Updated August 31, 2026

In short

QuickBooks Online supports multi-currency and a company-level exchange rate, but keeping that rate matched to the National Bank of Cambodia's official published figure is a manual task by default. RielSync writes the NBC rate into QuickBooks Online automatically each evening.

QuickBooks Online's multi-currency feature lets a business invoice and record bills in a foreign currency, converting against a company-level exchange rate. For a Cambodian business billing in both USD and KHR, that rate needs to match the National Bank of Cambodia's official daily rate for the books to hold up against local tax and audit expectations. QuickBooks Online does already auto-update its multi-currency exchange rate from a market data feed, but that feed tracks general market pricing, not the National Bank of Cambodia's official published rate, and the two can diverge on any given day. QuickBooks itself has no way to know that NBC's rate, not the market feed's, is the one Cambodian tax and audit rules expect.

Where the rate lives in QuickBooks Online

Multi-currency exchange rates in QuickBooks Online are managed under Settings, and can also be set through the accounting API on a company's exchange rate record. Without an automated feed pointed at NBC specifically, someone has to look up the day's published rate and enter it by hand.

What the manual routine looks like

  1. 01Check the National Bank of Cambodia's site for the day's published rate.
  2. 02Open QuickBooks Online and update the exchange rate for the day.
  3. 03Do it again tomorrow, and every working day after that.

Miss a day, and every KHR transaction until the next update uses a rate that no longer matches what NBC actually published.

Automating it with RielSync

RielSync connects to QuickBooks Online's exchange rate API. Each evening it records NBC's published rate, checks it against recent history to catch anything that looks like an error rather than a real move, and writes it into your QuickBooks Online company. Nothing about how you create invoices or run reports changes. The rate is simply already correct when your team logs in.

Beyond QuickBooks Online

The same sync also covers Odoo, SambaPOS, Zoho Books, and SAP Business One, with custom integrations available for other platforms with an API. See how it works or pricing to get started.

FAQ

Does RielSync replace QuickBooks Online's multi-currency feature?

No. It writes into the same exchange rate that QuickBooks Online's multi-currency feature already uses. Nothing changes about how you invoice or report.

What happens if NBC doesn't publish a rate for a given day?

Nothing is written, and the previous rate is never reused in its place. Weekends and public holidays show as a gap, not a stale value.

Does this work with platforms other than QuickBooks Online?

Yes. Odoo, SambaPOS, Zoho Books, and SAP Business One are also supported out of the box, with custom integrations available for other platforms with an API.
